Grimethorpe Down Under 2015

Grimethorpe Band has been wowing audiences since it was formed during World War I in 1917, now they are hitting Australian stages for the second time in 5 years. Here are a list of dates that they will be performing around the country. Stay tuned for more details on tickets and times.

MD Vacancy - Para Hills Band

Mr Aubrey Gannon, conductor of Para Hills Band, will be retiring at the end of July 2015 at the age of 87. He has kept the band together for the last 26 years with orchestrating, conducting, competing and performing. Music has been his life and he will remain a dedicated member of the band. Para Hills Band is now looking for someone to take over this role - a dedicated musician and leader with the right skills to continue the musical direction of Para Hills Band. Anyone interested is welcome to come along to a rehearsal Friday evenings from 7.30 - 9.30 at Para Hills High School music Suite, 90 Beafield Road, Para Hills West or contact the secretary at [email protected]

MD Vacancy - Strathalbyn

The Strathalbyn and District Concert Band advises that our current MD will be moving interstate sometime in 2015 and we are seeking a replacement MD. We are a very small band of mixed ages and abilities. Our focus is on supporting local community events and enjoying ourselves. Our major annual event, the Strathalbyn Bands Festival, has become a significant fixture in SA's banding calendar with 20 community bands participating over 2 days. Hahndorf Hymns and Classics

The annual “Hymns & Classics” concert by Hahndorf Town Band is on the 29th March at 2.00pm at St Paul's Lutheran Church, 10 Main Street Hahndorf. This has become a popular annual event in the town and packs the church as the band presents a varied program of classic brass music and featured soloists. This year features vocalists Sunhee (Sonny) Song and Hew Wagner, and organist Sebastian Phlox and conducted by Philip Paine.

Pre-Nationals Concert - Marion & Warriparinga

Join Marion and Warriparinga on 27th March at the Domain Theatre in the Marion Cultural Centre at 7pm as they present one last hurrah before they jet off to compete at the National Band Championships in Sydney. It will be a brassy evening as they present core repertoire one last time before they hit the competition stage. This annual concert showcases Marion's youngest ensemble and training band, Heaven Brass, which is the first performance opportunity for many of its new members. Entry by donation.

MUSICAL DIRECTOR WANTED - We are seeking an energetic, experienced leader with a passion for promoting grass roots community band music within our community. If you think you have the commitment and enthusiasm to lead the Clarence City Band as it provides opportunities for people to learn, play and compete musically in Tasmania, we encourage you to consider applying for the position of Musical Director.  If you are interested please contact [email protected] for an application package or further information. Clarence City Band, is a member of the Tasmanian Band League (TBL), and has been in operation since 1988.  Our aim is to provide an opportunity for people (from the age of 10) to come and enjoy playing music in a relaxed group.  We perform regularly throughout the community of Clarence (and beyond) and have 2 concert bands that compete regularly in the TBL state championships.

We currently consist of 8 ensembles.   We have a 4 year development program,  which takes players from complete beginners in the first year and by the 4th year they are able to take part in our Development Concert Band which completes at the “D” grade level.  We also have a Woodwind ensemble, Brass Band, Stage Band and Senior Concert Band (which completes at the “C” grade level).

Salisbury Slow Melody 2015

It's that time of year again, when we start trying to remember those songs we've always wanted to play for the Salisbury Slow Melody Competition 2015. This year's competition will be held on Sunday 3rd May at the Youth Enterprise Centre, 17-19 Wiltshire St. Salisbury. Entries are to be sent in by Tuesday 14th April. Salisbury Slow Melody Competition offers a chance to perform for an appreciative audience at any playing any level of ability. Be sure to check out the information on the Slow Melody page, there you will find Rules, Section Information and the relevant Entry Forms. All orchestral brass and brass band instruments are encouraged to enter.

The 2015 SABA State Band Championships will be held at Trinity College Gawler on the 29-30th August. The format will be similar to last year's competition with the solo and party events happening on the same weekend. Information packs will be out to bands very soon.
