ONKAPARINGA FOUNDING MEMBER DR DON HOPGOOD HONOURED AT STATE AND LOCAL CEREMONY
The Noarlunga Theatre at Noarlunga Centre has undergone a major revitalization and renovation and is now under the Country SA banner.
At a ceremony on 21st October, attended by Premier Mike Rann, State Ministers and local government representatives, founding Band member and trumpet player Don Hopgood was honoured for his contribution to the State and the Community. Premier Mike Rann delivered a speech and named the Theatre "The Hopgood Theatre" in honour of Don and Raelene Hopgood. Don who was seated in his usual place in the trumpet section of the Band gave his thank you speech and then rejoined the Onkaparinga City Concert Band and played for the assembled audience and guests, before enjoying a reception with food and drinks in the Foyer of the theatre.
Onkaparinga Concert Band is proud and privileged to have their esteemed member so honoured, and was proud to play for the invited audience.
