SA Police Rangers takes out ‘A Grade’ Concert Band title.

SA Police Rangers - Musical Director Mark Smith has won the ‘A Grade’ section of the SA Band Association Concert Band Competitions held at Adelaide University’s Scott Theatre on Sunday 12 August.

In an impressive musical display, the SA Police Ranger’s - Musical Director Mark Smith has taken out the coveted A Grade section of the SA Band Association Concert Band Competitions. For the 2nd year running, the band has won the highly competitive A Grade Section, this year competing against Unley and Onkaparinga Concert Bands.

Adjudicator for the day’s competition was Bruce Raymond assisted by David Thornton.

B Grade Competition.

Mr Raymond commended the B Grade Section, indicating the performances of Payneham Concert band and Holdfast Bay Concert Band was of a particularly good standard.

Unley Concert Band wins SABA Concert Band Entertainment Concert.

The Unley Concert Band, directed by Kevin Cameron,  has capped off its 10th Anniversary Celebrations this weekend by winning the SA Band Association's Entertainment Contest for Concert Bands.

Adjudicator Bill Broughton placed Unley ahead of Onkaparinga Concert Band (Craig Wingrave), Henley and Grange Concert Band (Mike Noyce), and the Tea Tree Gully Redbacks (David Gardiner).

Unley played a wide and varied selection of music, featuring soloists Sarah Butler (Flugel Horn), Evan Bassani (Alto Saxophone), Nicole Molloy (Clarinet), and Alex Gordon (Vocals).

"This is a great win for Unley against bands of good quality and reputation, and we were very pleased that the joined us in celebrating our 10th Anniversary.  We look forward to an exciting future of concerts and contesting as we continue to build our reputation,"  said Unley's Music Director Kevin Cameron.
