2008 SABA Band Camp
The 2008 SABA Band Camp was a very successful initiative of the SA Band Association. Over 80 musicians participated in workshops and band rehearsals under the batons of Mr Barrie Gott; MD of the Qld Pops Orchestra and our own Dr Kevin Cameron. Professional tutors worked with both the Brass and Concert band players and this aspect of the band camp was very effective for players learning the more difficult sections of the repertoires. This project was a challenge and proved to be well worth the effort. The banding fraternity is growing and the friendships are developing throughout the state via events such as this.

Victor Harbor High School Band and St Andrews School Band have joined SABA. They are both Concert Bands, which now makes our membership 22 Brass Bands and 20 Concert Bands. We also have other applications pending, this means our association is steadily growing. Interest in the association is also growing as shown by the number of hits the website is getting [7,616 page requests in July].

Congratulations to David Moss who was awarded a NBCA 25 Year Service Award and SABA Life Membership by SABA President, Dr Kevin Cameron, at the Hahndorf Band Festival. David was both gracious and humble in his response.
