This Band was formed in 1994 when a need for mid-week entertainment was required for retirement homes/villages, Clubs such as Probus, A.R.P.A., Senior Citizens, R.S.L. and Over 50’s.
Members of the Band are amateur musicians who are either retired or non working people who enjoy playing brass band music to entertain. Most of the members belong to a registered “Parent” Band from different suburbs around Adelaide. Some travel from Milang in the South and from Gawler in the North.
Practises are held fortnightly in the Klemzig Band room on O.G. Road when we are not engaged otherwise. However, the Band has become so popular in recent years, that practise days have become quite rare!
The type of music played by the Band is varied from “oompah”, light classical, old style to community singing and as our title indicates, fun pieces to entertain all ages. Depending on the size of area on engagements, our group will form with 12 to 18 players. On average and for good musical balance we mostly consist of 14 players. Each year our engagements grow in numbers and the year 2007 had us performing 94 times. January is our month of rest to recuperate after the hectic Christmas bookings and as several of our members are in their 8O’s, they deserve a vacation.
The Musical Director of our “Fun Band” is Mr. Ron Arthur
