Campbelltown City Brass Band and Payneham Concert Band combined for a community concert Sunday 23rd August. This was an initiative of the Payneham Concert Band who were keen to show the community that local council boundaries were no barrier to the enjoyment of community music.
Campbelltown kicked off under the baton of Al Kidney with 40 mins of entertaining brass band music including their hymn and own choice test piece for this years State Championships.
After the interval, Payneham continued under the baton of Brent Parry with some more entertaining music from arrangers for concert bands. Both bands then combined under Brent Parry for a spectacular finale of “Where the Black Hawk Soars” arranged for both lots of instrumentation by Al Kidney. The combined resources of both bands produced a most spectacular sound which greatly impressed the large audience.
This was a good opportunity for both local community bands to work together, play together and socialize together. We are all keen to repeat the great experience.
