2018 South Australian State Band Championships
Our State Championships provide a wonderful opportunity for member bands and players to perform music that will test them in a friendly competition format. It also provides a unique opportunity for audiences to hear our bands at their very best, and to see what SA banding has to offer.
This year the contest is being held in three sections on three separate days. The On-Stage Band Competition and the Solo and Ensemble Competition are proudly sponsored by Size Music.
In an exciting initiative, the Derringers Music Marching Championship is being held at the Showgrounds on the last day of the Royal Adelaide Show. We are looking forward to this year’s marching being the public spectacle it always deserves to be.
Thank you to Size Music and Derringers Music for their generous and ongoing support.

No food is allowed inside the performance spaces (with the exception of bottled water).
There’s a Foodland on Brighton Road about 300m to the south and plenty of interesting options on Jetty Road Brighton.
There are two car parks on site at Brighton Secondary School.
Access to one is via Ilfracombe Ave and the other via King George Ave.
There is plenty of street parking available as well, but check the parking times on signs carefully. The local parking inspectors take their jobs very seriously indeed.
The Concert Hall is being used for performances with the Theatre behind being used for warmups.
The building is at the north east side of the school, adjacent to the tennis courts and “front” oval.
There will be plenty of signs. You shouldn’t miss it.
Note that the solos on 01/09 will be in the school’s Music Centre which is about 100m south west of the Concert Hall. Again, there will be plenty of signs.
Feel free to contact the contest convener to discuss any competition matters.
